Volunteer and see the world
Author: Ruth Harding

A great way to see the world and also help people in need is to seek volunteer opportunities. Volunteering is not for the faint of heart, but it is for the adventurous and people who recognize we live in a global village. There are many opportunities for travel to places that are exotic.
All over the world there are volunteer agencies desperately in need of willing hands to help; building schools, hospitals, digging trenches for water systems, providing love and care for the needy, the demand for help is everywhere.
Another type of volunteering involves working on farms around the world. This is not the same as summer work picking grapes in vineyards of Europe for which you get paid. Volunteering on farms involves picking and planting crops, tilling the soil, building/fixing fences, feeding animals, and generally helping to keep the farm going.
Find the volunteering opportunity that meets your needs.
Always register with a recognized volunteer organization and make sure you understand what the expectations are. Ensure you get all the necessary vaccinations. Not all jobs are suitable for everybody so it's important to make sure you sign up for something you are capable of doing. It's fairly standard for individuals to pay their own way, and to get room and board in exchange for services. Volunteering is a great way to help communities grow, and to see the world at the same time.
