Where to Travel for the Holidays

The holidays are approaching faster than one might like to believe. For some people, the end of the year is a time to visit family. For others, it is a time to travel. Where are you going to spend the last days of 2007 and the first minutes of 2008?

There is Times Square in New York. It's a spectacle, but it's a bit on the cheesy side and you've seen it before, at least on TV.

So where else?

The magnificent skyline of Hong Kong is home to some equally magnificent fireworks. It has to be one of the most sublime settings to pop the cork out of your Brut.

Sydney Harbor offers another famous skyline as a backdrops for fireworks. Plus, so close to the international Dateline, you will be one of the first to ring in the New Year.

On the other side of the world, Big Ben rings in the New Year (quite literally) for those in London. The "countdown" rivals that of Times Square, only the historic clock tower adds a touch of class.

Though not quite on par with Carnival celebrations held a month and a half later, Rio's New Year's party has all the typical excitement of a Brazilian celebration.
