Upper Canada Village: Experience Life in the 1860s

Ah, life in the 1860s. With a horse drawn carriage, period pieces and quilt making as a hobby, life in this period feels like a distant past. Unless you happen to visit Upper Canada Village.

Located in Morrisburg, Ontario (a little northwest of Buffalo, NY and above the Great Lake Erie), Upper Canada Village is like an outdoor museum, and similar to Colonial Williamsburg.

There are mills, trade shops, churches and factories that are well preserved relics of this period. All the buildings are authentic and you'll see people in period costumes that aim to reproduce the exact way of life during the 1860s.

The village is just adjacent to the st. lawrence river in Canada.

If you think about it, the 1860s housed some really milestone events, from the American Civil War and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. In 1869 Canada officially acquired the Hudson Bay territories.
