Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu
Author: admin

Turtle Bay is the only resort on the remote North Shore of Oahu. This part of Oahu is in stark contrast to the South Shore where over-populated Honolulu is located — about a two-hour drive.
At Turtle Bay, I had a spacious ocean view room, which, of course had a spectacular view of the Pacific. There's nothing like the sound of crashing waves against rocks right below a lanai. The strong surf that hits the North Shore precludes swimming. There's a protected lagoon at the hotel for swimming.
On any given day, Turtle Bay Resort has film crews on their property. The week before I arrived, the show "Las Vegas" had filmed two episodes; and while I was staying there, "Lost," a "Corona" beer commercial, and a California talk show were all filming on the resort's property. Also, a writer from "Outside" magazine was covering a feature on locals growing up on the North Shore and the surfing culture.
Set time aside for a leisurely one-hour trail ride along Turtle Bay's golf course, beaches and jungle-like setting popular with the "Lost" crew. We rode passed an empty bamboo cage, which housed a boar in the show.
World famous Bonzai and Pipeline Beaches is just a brief drive from Turtle Bay.
