Tropical Winters in Minnesota!?
Author: admin

During the hot and sweaty summers, Minnesota winters are far from everyone's mind. However, the brutal chill of February is not so far off. The short and cold days do not have to be totally void of greenery and warmth. Yes, even in the Twin City's February, there are places to find tropical settings.
Saint Paul's McNeely Conservatory, located next to the famous Como Zoo, is open every day of the year. For a small donation, it is possible to wander amongst the plants, perhaps stopping to watch the goldfish poke their noses out of the water. Admission is free, though they ask for a small donation at the entrance ($2 per person).
The Minnesota Zoo, in the suburbs south of Minneapolis, has one of the most extensive tropical exhibits in the region. A newly built saltwater aquarium and dolphin pool add to the Zoo's indoor sights. Also, a monorail ride is a warm way to see the outdoor animals without having to don the parkas.
If you get too warm, you can always venture out to the ski slopes or skating rinks.
