Luxury Travel

I'm not overly picky about where I lay my head when I travel. As long as there is not an overpopulation of six-legged creatures or a strange odor, I'm content. I'm probably in the majority. When you are on vacation, you want a hotel room that has hints of luxury, but you don't expect rose petals floating in the toilet bowl or your own personal valet or anything like that.
If you win the lottery or if, God forbid, rich Uncle Phil dies and leaves you an inheritance, you might be interested in a recent Times of London article about the most expensive hotels on planet earth. The winner? Ty Warner Penthouse at the Four Seasons in New York, which costs 26000 British Pounds. For the non-exchange-rate-aware, that's about $52,000 US. Why would someone pay that much for accommodation. For the amenities of course:
These, of course, are no ordinary suites. They come with bulletproof glass, rare antiques, designer interiors and 24-hour butlers; golden furniture, midair spa baths, epic views and top-notch limos.
Another $50,000-plus room is atop the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva. According to the Times reporter that price does not include breakfast, but does include a state-of-the art security system and six bathrooms.
And so, you find yourself asking: What about little old me?
Luxury is not always so expensive. Helpfully, Forbes Magazine recently published a list of "wallet-friendly" luxury hotels. You probably won't find six bathrooms in any of the hotels Forbes lists. But, you can only use one at a time anyway.
