National Parks Traveler has a piece this monthon the Winter Use Plan for Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.
The number has been set at 318 snowmobiles and 78 snow coaches per day in use in the parks. For the last five years the Park Service has allowed over 700. The National Park Service says those numbers will be in place for the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 winters. All snowmobile excursions will have to be led by a commercial guide.
The Wyoming state legislature expressed it's displeasure with the reduced numbers. But the Parks Service would like to eventually reduce the numbers even further.
