It's not the biggest or the best, but Wyoming's Sleeping Giant Ski Area is one of the most historic ski resorts in the U.S. After being shut down for five years, it reopened earlier this month.
The winter sports area has been popular in the past with visitors to Yellowstone National Park. Sleeping Giant is just a few miles from Yellowstone's eastern gate. Kayak Traveler reported on improvements to the ski area. Thanks to a reported $3.4 million sunk into improvements, the revamped ski area now offers a triple chair lift, longer runs, a day lodge, ski and snowboarding school and snow-making capabilities.
The price also makes Sleeping Giant attractive: $29 a day for adults and $12 a day for kids under age 12.
