Sacramento

and Hollywood account for a miniscule portion of California's vast area. Sure, there is The Bay Area and Wine Country. There are literally hundreds of towns besides the "big three" that have tourist-worthy sights. Because of its population and status as California's state capital, Sacramento is the most well known of California's smaller cities. Old Sacramento is a section of town that harkens back to the city's wild west days. Now, it is mainly a tourist attraction. There are some good eating and shopping opportunities, and an interesting museum dedicated to the railroad.
Downtown Sacramento offers plenty of restaurants. After dark, the nightlife scene begins to gain speed.
The state capital buildings are worth a visit as well. The buildings are stereotypical "state capital" affairs; the capital building is, of course, domed. You probably wont see Arnold, but the grounds are a pleasant venue for a stroll.
