Oahu is home to Honolulu and over 80% of Hawaii's population. For this reason, Oahu is known as "The gathering place." In the past, many tourists heading to Hawaii at least had to stop off in Honolulu on the way to the outer-lying islands. As airlines increase the number of flights to Hawaii's other islands, Honolulu is becoming less and less the stopping off point it used to be.
Oahu is home to Hawaii's only major metropolis. That means, however, that it is harder to find tropical paradise of postcards and travel brochures.
Oahu still has its share of peaceful spots. One is Lanikai Beach:

Oahu is still the biggest tourist draw of the Hawaiian Islands. Yes, it's more hustle and bustle than the others, but you will be able to find whatever you want, including a bit of peace and quiet.
