Kite Festival in Indonesia

Kite Festival in Indonesia
Kite flying is almost a national sport in Indonesia. This is especially the case in Central and Eastern Java, where kite-flying events are promoted as intensely as any other sporting event.

Yogyakarta, a historic city in central Java, will be the home of one such competition next month. Yogyakarta is a sight-seer's paradise, full of Javaneselinks palaces (like the one pictured above) and massive temple complexes. For those who have never been to Indonesia, Yogyakarta is a great place to start a tour around Java (Indonesia's most populated island). Next month's kite festival will only add to the colorful experiences visitors can have in Yogyakarta.
