Kimpton Palomar Opens in Los Angeles-Westwood

The Kimpton Group of hotels made a recent splash in the city of Los Angeles. The Kimpton Palomar opened its quirky doors two months ago, and welcomes pets and guests with a particular appreciation for flair and jazzy digs.

The Palomar is situated among the high rises of Wilshire Boulevard, about two miles east of the 405 Freeway. It's very close to the U.C.L.A. and the Hammer Museum.

The rooms are decorated in unusual and energetic tiger, zebra prints and alligator skin. There are great freebies in the lobby from coffee and tea to snacks, and the pool is small but mirrored to give the appearance of roominess.

There's free Wi-Fi in all rooms, but no spa, alas. Room rates are $229 and up for the first six months.
