Jazz had a heyday in Chicago during the Roaring Twenties. While some old timers will be happy to tell you how great the jazz scene was "back in the day," a look around town will show you that Chicago is still a jazz city. The Green Mill is a famous spot on Chicago's north side. While its possible to see some jazz legends on any given night, newer acts like vocalist Kurt Elling often grace the stage as well.
The Chicago Theater hosts larger acts known nationwide. The Empty Bottle on Chicago's western side hosts up-and-coming acts. The Bottle has an exciting, raw vibe.
On Labor Day weekend, The Loop's Grant Park hosts Chicago's very own jazz festival. Some of the most famous artists in the world jam at the festival.
Both jazz lovers and those who simply wish to appreciate the atmosphere of a good jazz club will find what they are looking for in Chicago.
