Hong Kong

Filed in archive Videos by Josh Lew on August 8, 2007

Hong Kong is a small place. At least, it is small on paper, when one considers the area of land it covers. However, The City rises above the ground. If one were to measure all the floor space of all the high rises and apartment complexes, I'm sure the overall measurement of Hong Kong's area would rise a hundred-fold.

The city is one of claustrophobia. You are either shoulder to shoulder with other people or with vehicles or with the skyward-stretching walls of narrow lane ways. The slide-show below might lend some visuals to what I am trying to convey about Britain's former colony.

The fact that Hong Kong is packed so tightly is, it seems, part of its attraction. The commerce, culture, color, and action of the city seem all encompassing when they happen up close.
