Learning Experiences

Thailand and buddhism are inseparable. The religion is a center point of daily life for everyone from the country's revered royalty to the poorest plow wielding farmer. For tourists, it is impossible to miss the numerous temples and altars that seem to be there every time they glance over a shoulder.
It makes sense, then, that one of the best ways to get behind the scenes of the production that is Thailand's tourist industry is to become more familiar with their religion.
Luckily, for the curious visitor, there are plenty of meditation classes and temple stays on offer. Some of the more rigorous ones can be found through various Buddhist organizations throughout the country. There are plenty of experiences that are aimed at tourists as well (Like the "what's it like to live in a temple" afternoon experience). Either the hardcore or lightweight experience will give visitors a little more insight into Thailand than they had to begin with.
