I've posted about film festivals before. This time, I want to mention an event, taking place next week in the Philippines. The 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival begins in Metro Manila on August 8th. The Philippines boasts a thriving film industry. Aside from full-fledged features, the festival will also have Digital Lokal Competition featuring digital films made by novice and up-and-coming filmmakers.

One reason that this is a good film festival to visit is that most, if not all, films will have English subtitles. That is welcome news for the non-Tagalog speakers who want to get some culture while on a visit to Manila.
